Gulltransporten
Noen av de norske "gullskøytene" fotografert under reisen nordover i mai 1940. Seemingly deserted and useless, to give Luftwaffe air patrols the impression that they are no longer seaworthy, five puffers (in foreground and center) ride at anchor in a cove on Frøya island. Actually, heavily armed soldiers and civilians are hidden below deck to guard cargoes of gold worth almost $20 000 000 and for which the Germans are making frantic search. Puffers similar to these were "stolen" by captain Gierløff to operate his escape route to Scotland. (Original bildetekst)
