Kong Haakon besøker Newcastle - King Haakon visits Newcastle
The large Norwegian community in the north east of England paid tribute to King Haakon, who paid a two day visit to the area during the weekend. His Majesty fulfilled a number of engagements which included a Civil lunch at the mansion House, and the opening of a Norwegian Exhibition at the opening of a Norwegian Exhibition at the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle. During a tour of the dockyards, King Haakon paid a warm ribute to British shipyard workers. "You repair our ships and we sail them. This is a fine example of co-operation and fellowship of Our common effort. i hope this good work of co-operation and fellowship of Our common effort. I hope this good work of co-operation between the two countries will continue and if impossible, improve after the war."
